During July and August the LCC ran two Khanacrosses.
Round 3 at the end of July was a daylight event and round 4 was a twilight event run in mid August.
Numbers for both events were up considerably on the first two rounds with some new faces competing too.
Syed Hussein narrowly won the July event with Dave Thomas second by just 0.21 seconds. Bob Percival was third, a mere 5.7 seconds further back. It shows we have very healthy competition within the club this year. Kelly Thomas took 7th outright, first junior and first lady all in one swoop.
At the Twilight Khanacross three weeks later the battle continued. This time it shaped up between Dave Thomas and Craig Puzey. The latter put in a gallant drive in his twin cam Corolla, however the almost non existent dampers hampered traction. Craig would trail Dave by 7.4 seconds when the racing concluded. LCC stalwart Neal Johnson drove to third with Kelly Thomas moving up a few rungs to fourth. It was also good to see Jessica Mansfield back in the saddle. Jess hasn’t entered an event for more than 12 months. She went on to tenth place.
With the next few months taken up with the club’s state championship rallies (Safari & Darling 200), these two events have rounded out the club’s racing.
