The Light Car Club is working to finalise the 2013 Carringtons Traffic Services Safari Rally with preparations ploughing ahead at full steam for the October 12th run date.

As round five of the WA Clubman Cup and State 2WD championship, the Safari will also be the pivotal decider in the outright State Rally Championship.Safari Rally poster

The rally’s nine specials stages will all run on the gravel forest roads around Mundaring, with Rally HQ and the service park located in nearby Chidlow. State competitors will have the opportunity to pace note the 110km of stages, whilst Clubman Cup competitors will compete using the organiser’s road book, running the shorter distance of 63km.

For this year’s Safari, Karl Drummond has taken over the event as Clerk of Course. Due to work and family commitments, Andrew Percival has made the tough decision to hand over the reins and move into the role of road director for the Safari. Karl commented “Thank you to Andrew for all of his hard work over the last few years and for the work he has already put into the 2013 event. I’m very glad I will have Andrew’s assistance and will be able to draw on his invaluable knowledge to help me out. We’re looking forward to putting on a great event.”

Event HQ will again be based in the Chidlow Tavern located on Thomas St in Chidlow, directly opposite the service park. Food and drinks will be available from the Chidlow Tavern throughout the event, and meals will also be available in the evening and during the presentation ceremony held at the same location.
